Empathy test

Empathy plays a central role in how we connect, communicate, and care for others — but it doesn’t always come easily or feel balanced. If you’re curious about how you relate to the thoughts and emotions of others, this self-assessment offers a private and reflective space to explore your level of empathy.

What is empathy?

Empathy is the ability to recognise, understand, and share in the emotions of others. It involves more than just sympathy or kindness — empathy allows us to connect emotionally, interpret subtle social cues, and respond with care and attunement.

Empathy is not about “always knowing what to say,” nor does it mean feeling responsible for everyone else’s emotions. It’s about being emotionally present, even when experiences differ.

Research shows that empathy exists along a spectrum. Some people naturally tune in to others’ feelings with ease, while others may find it harder to notice or relate to emotional cues. Empathy can also be affected by stress, trauma, burnout, or social and neurological differences (such as autism or alexithymia).

Crucially, empathy is not fixed — it can be developed, strengthened, or recalibrated over time with intention and practice.
